The Trondheim Chamber Music Competition has announced ten participating string quartets for its 13th edition. This year, the competition will celebrate its 25th anniversary, having been initiated in 2000, alternating between string quartets and piano trios every two years.

The quartets will compete for the first prize of €15,000 and festival engagements. Second place will receive €10,000, while third will receive €5,000. A Commission Prize of €250, plus Audience Prize and Jury Special Prize are also up for grabs. All ensembles will be awarded a specially made artwork by Norwegian artist Eigil Nordstrøm.

This year’s jury comprises Levon Chilingirian, Asbjørn Nørgaard, Bjørg Lewis, Cam Kjøll, Minna Pensola, Radovan Vlatković and Tomas Djupsjöbacka.

Previous winners of the competition include the Danish Quartet, Van Kuijk Quartet and Trio con brio Copenhagen.
