Fans of violin trivia may be intrigued to know that Norway is currently the country with the highest number of Stradivari instruments per capita. Eleven of them are held by the Anders Sveaas Charitable Foundation, an institution supporting a broad range of charitable, cultural, educational and research initiatives, with a particular emphasis on projects that would otherwise struggle to obtain funding. Established in 1990, the foundation (asaf.no/en) now boasts a collection of 19 musical instruments including examples by G.B. Guadagnini, Francesco Rugeri, Domenico Montagnana and the Brothers Amati, in addition to its impressive roster of Stradivaris…
