Larsen Strings is pleased to announce the official launch of Il Cannone Silver for violin – a shining new chapter in the Il Cannone legacy, crafted for the modern performer and rooted in the pursuit of nuance, clarity and expressive freedom. This refined addition to the Il Cannone family will be available globally from 7 July 2025
Developed through close collaboration with leading artists across Europe and North America, Il Cannone Silver combines radiant brilliance with poise and precision. The new set includes two contrasting E-strings to suit both instrument and repertoire:
• Silver E – powerful, bold and silvery
• Caprice E – sparkling, focused and brilliant
Engineered for soloistic performance
The Caprice E string was engineered for soloistic performance with slightly higher tension. Its ability to speak with brilliance while retaining finesse in soft dynamics reflects Larsen’s approach to string-making: deeply attentive, artist-led and uncompromising in detail.

Crafted in Denmark using cutting-edge materials and precision engineering, Il Cannone Silver feature D and G strings that are precision wound using 99.85 per cent pure silver flat wire, over a synthetic multi-filament core, delivering an overtone-rich, silvery clarity – particularly in the upper register. The A string is wound with precision aluminium flat wire, contributing to the evenness and vibrancy across the set.
Designed to respond instantly under the bow and offer a smooth tonal transition across strings, Il Cannone Silver grants players the ability to shape their sound with elegance and authority – whether performing in a grand concert hall or the intimate setting of a chamber ensemble.
