Finnish violinist Lilja Haatainen joins the roster for worldwide general management
Harrison Parrott has announced the addition of 14-year-old violinist Lilja Haatainen to its roster, which includes violinists such as Eldbjørg Hemsing, Alena Baeva, Leonhard Baumgartner and Ava Bahari, among others.
Born in 2011, Haatainen started playing the violin at the age of three. She studied at the Oulu Conservatory until 2022 and has studied with Janne Malmivaara. She is a student of the Finnish Violin Academy, a period-based special education programme for young talented violinists.
Haatainen made her concerto debut at the age of eight. In 2022, she won the 10-12-year-old category of the national Jyväskylä Violin Competition and in the same year she successfully achieved 1st prize in the 9 -13-year-old category of the Louis Spohr International Competition for Young Violinists in Germany.
In her burgeoning career, the violinist has performed as a soloist with many of the Finnish orchestras such as Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Finnish Chamber Orchestra, Jyväskylä Sinfonia, Oulu Sinfonia, Espoo City Orchestra and Vaasa City Orchestra as well as in Germany with the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra. Conductor collaborations include Nicholas Collon, Dalia Stasevska, Kristian Sallinen and Rumon Gamba.
She recently featured on the Dutch Classical TV programme, Podium Klassiek, where she was interviewed as the programme’s ‘Young Hero’ and performed Zapateado by Sarasate.
Upcoming highlights for Haatainen in 2025 include solo and chamber music performances at several music festivals in Finland, including the Tammisaari Summer Festival.
Next season she will take part at the International Chamber Music Festival, Utrecht, at the invitation of Janine Jansen. She will also make her debuts with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under Manfred Honeck as well as the Pori Sinfonietta and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra.
Haatainen is supported by the Stretton Society, the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Pro Musica and the Wihuri Foundation in Finland.
