Music@Menlo chamber music and festival has announced the appointment of cellist Dmitri Atapine and pianist Hyeyeon Park as its next artistic directors from the 2027 season. The news follows the announcement that founding artistic directors David Finckel and Wu Han will step down from their roles after the 2026 summer season.

Atapine and Park have been frequent artists with Music@Menlo since 2009. They have directed the Music@Menlo Smith Family Young Performers Program since 2020 and were long-time faculty members of the scheme.

They perform a leading venues and festivals, including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, where Atapine is an alum of the Bowers Program. Additionally, they currently serve as artistic directors of the acclaimed Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City, are the founders and directors of Apex Concerts in Reno, and are tenured professors at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The 2025 and 2026 Music@Menlo summer festivals will serve as a celebratory culmination of David Finckel and Wu Han’s leadership at Music@Menlo, with the 2025 summer festival taking place from 18 July to 9 August.

Each has annotated the sheet music with their own bowings, fingerings and comments.

Calendars

The Canada Council of the Arts’ Musical Instrument Bank is 40 years old in 2025. This year’s calendar celebrates some its treasures, including four instruments by Antonio Stradivari and priceless works by Montagnana, Gagliano, Pressenda and David Tecchler.
