The Scandinavian quartet joins the roster for North American representation

Kirshbaum Associates has announced the sigining of the award-winning ensemble Opus13 to its roster for North American representation.
Opus13 won first prize at the 2025 Wigmore Hall and the Bordeaux international string quartet competitions. In 2026, it was named a recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award and a BBC New Generation Artist for 2026–2028.
The quartet will perform its debut tour of North America in March 2028.
The quartet was formed in Oslo in 2014 by Norwegian violinists Sonoko Miriam Welde and Edvard Erdal, violist Albin Uusijärvi and cellist Daniel Thorell, both from Sweden.
In addition to performing core string quartet repertoire, Opus13 is an ambassador of Nordic classical and contemporary music, frequently programming works by Grieg, Stenhammar, Tarrodi, Byström, and Fagerlund. It also enjoys genre-crossing collaborations, having performed with Norwegian folk and popular music artists including Gjermund Larsen Trio, Sissel Kyrkjebø, and Sver.
Upcoming performances include debuts at Concertgebouw and Wigmore Hall, a three-season concert residency at Leeds International Chamber Series, and projects at the Baltic Sea, Bergen and Banff festivals.
The members of Opus13 are the founders and artistic directors of Vinterspill på Lillehammer, an annual chamber music festival in Lillehammer, Norway.In 2026, it was named a recipient of the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award and a BBC New Generation Artist for 2026–2028.
