The akustika 2026 trade fair is currently taking place at the Messe Nürnberg in Nuremberg, Germany. Christian and Mariette from The Strad team have arrived to welcome you all to stand B08 in Hall 7A on the ground floor! Running until Sunday 26 April, this year’s event includes 80 concerts, seminars and workshops, including on Friday a performance by the Twiolins and a presentation by luthier Konrad Kohlert on why violin making has been recognised by Unesco as ‘intangible cultural heritage’.
Other events will include a showcase by Dutch violinist Yvonne Smulders on a Stradivari violin, a Q&A session on the latest CITES developments, and tutor Kristina Mirkovic demonstrates her ‘Violin in Action’ method.
The exhibition is targeted towards professional musicians, music students and anyone with an interest in music. Now in its fourth year, it includes more than 250 exhibitors, around a quarter of which are for stringed instruments.
The exhibitors hail from 24 countries and vary from small businesses to larger firms specialising in everything from instruments, accessories and strings to tonewood and lutherie tools. Schools, universities and music associations are also present, as well as a host of renowned violin makers.
