Three violinists have progressed to the final concerto round, to be held on 25 October

The semi-final of the 2025 Premio Paganini International Violin Competition was held on 22 October at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. Six contestants presented a programme of chamber music repertoire, plus a solo work by Niccolò Paganini.
The jury selected three violinists to advance to the final round, which will be held on 25 October. They are:
Hyun Seo Kim (South Korea)
Rino Yoshimoto (Japan)
Aozhe Zhang (China)
In the final round, the contestants will perform Paganini’s Violin Concerto no.1, plus another violin concerto. Kim and Zhang will perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, while Yoshimoto will perform the Brahms Violin Concerto. The competitors will be accompanied by the Orchestra of the Teatro Carlo Felice.
Candidates are competing for the top prize of €30,000, with second and third prize worth €20,000 and €10,000 respectively. Special prizes totalling €16,000 will also be awarded.
This year’s jury is chaired by Uto Ughi and comprises Pavel Berman, Pamela Frank, Mihaela Martin, Enzo Restagno, Sayaka Shoji and Ulf Wallin.
