Lawrence Power joins the school as professor of viola, while Kinga Wojdalska joins as adjunct professor

The Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, Spain, has announced Lawrence Power as its new professor of viola of one of the school’s Fundación BBVA viola chairs. Additionally, violist Kinga Wojdalska has been appointed as adjunct professor.
The Fundación BBVA viola chair is formed by two separate professorship positions. Power joins fellow professor Diemut Poppen. Both Power and Wojdalska start their positions for the 2025/26 academic year.
Power said he was ‘delighted’ to join the faculty in Madrid and to work with the next generation of musicians. As an educator, he is on the faculty at Zurich’s University of the Arts and gives masterclasses around the world, including at the Verbier Festival.
Polish violist Wojdalska won second prize at the 2024 Primrose International Viola Competition. She is a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London and the Zurich University of the Arts, where In 2025, she completed a second master’s degree in orchestral performance, studying viola with Power and violin with Sergey Malov.
