Violinist Florentina Râmniceanu assumes the role for the 2026-27 season
Florida’s Fort Myers Philharmonic has announced the appointment of violinist Florentina Râmniceanu as its concertmaster for the 2026-27 season.
A native of Romania, Râmniceanu is a graduate of the Bucharest Conservatory of Music and received the Romanian National Music Prize for four consecutive years.
Râmniceanu has performed throughout Europe and North America as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader. She has served as concertmaster for the Chicago Opera Theater, Chicago Philharmonic, Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet and other leading ensembles, and has appeared as guest concertmaster with orchestras around the world. She has served as concertmaster for the concert musical Bugs Bunny on Broadway.
As a chamber musician she has performed with the Consortium Quartet and is a founding member of the Chicago-based Orion Ensemble.
As an educator and mentor, she has worked with graduate violin students at DePaul and Roosevelt universities.
Paul Nader, the Fort Myers Philharmonic’s music director and conductor, said he was ‘thrilled’ to welcome Râmniceanu as the orchestras’ concertmaster.
’Her artistry, leadership, and extraordinary depth of experience make her the ideal Concertmaster for our orchestra. She embodies the musical excellence and collaborative spirit that define the Philharmonic.
’We are honoured to welcome Florentina to our musical family and look forward to the artistry and inspiration she will bring to our stage for years to come.’
