Giuseppe Dall’Aglio was born in 1774 in Boretto, near Reggio Emilia, and arrived in Mantua around 1795. He was initially registered as a coachman, but the fact that on his arrival he became acquainted with the Mantuan violinist and luthier Alessandro Zanti indicates that he could already have had some interest in lutherie.
