Hilary Hahn has had to cancel further concerts in December as she continues to recover from her ongoing double pinched nerve injury. The violinist was due to play Dvořák’s Violin Concerto in A minor with the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Andris Nelsons at Berlin’s Philharmonie on 11, 12 and 13 December.

American violinist Benjamin Beilman will step in to play the Dvořák concerto on all three dates, in what will be his second appearance with the Berlin Philharmonic; he previously played with the orchestra on its 2024 US tour.

In a statement, the Berlin Philharmonic said that it is ‘very grateful to Benjamin Beilman for stepping in and wish Hilary Hahn all the best for her continued recovery. The concert programme remains unchanged.’

Hahn returned to the concert stage in February 2025 following seven months away due to the nerve injury, but she withdrew from her BBC Proms date in August 2025 and cancelled performances until November 2025. She recently announced she would also be withdrawing from her US recitals with pianist Lang Lang in early December.
